Amendment · 2026-09-18 — Mint and Print
Mint and Print. The series is named Mint or Print. The choice it described no longer applies: every hit now carries both rights. The holder of a hit may have one official print made of it and may mint it off platform. Neither is required, and doing one does not give up the other. Ownership continues to display in game either way.
You do not need to know anything about minting to play. Every hit lives in your in-game collection and can be held, displayed and used in the game as it is. Minting is optional and is there for holders who want it later.
How and when minting and printing open will be announced.
Changelog
2026-09-29 — Every player is an ambassador. Every player now has a personal invite link, and a referred player's Series 001 hits write an Ambassador copy to their referrer. §3, §4, §6 and §7 amended; the Vendor Terms are withdrawn (there is no vendor programme, §4). An Ambassador copy is a second record of the same card and serial with the same rights as the ripper's copy: it is not taken from the pool and does not change any card's supply or remaining count, the odds, or any holder's rights. The sealed pool, the odds and the published pool hash are unchanged by this amendment.
2026-09-23 — Wording correction, §1. §1 now reads "a free game on Digital Towns" instead of "a free game inside Local Rips, on Digital Towns". Wording only: no rule, right or eligibility changes. The sealed pool, the odds and the published pool hash are unchanged by this correction.
2026-09-18 — §10 amended. §10 said these rules would not change for the life of Series 001, apart from rules 2, 3, 4 and 9. Series 001 is the first series, and amendments to it only add: rights, features, clearer wording. §10 now names what will never change (the sealed pool, the published pool hash, the odds, the tier structure, card supply, and any right a holder already has) and says no amendment removes a right or alters the pool. The changelog moved to the top of these rules so every amendment is in one place. The sealed pool, the odds and the published pool hash are unchanged by this amendment.
2026-09-18 — Mint and Print. Every hit now carries both rights: one official print may be made of it, and it may be minted off platform. Neither is required and doing one does not give up the other. See the amendment at the top of these rules and §8. The sealed pool, the odds and the published pool hash are unchanged by this amendment.
2026-09-10 — Clarified: Series 001 closes when the last hit is pulled. After that, only Contams remain. §5 and §10 had said different things — §5 the last hit, §10 the last rip. §5 is correct and §10 now matches it. The seed is revealed at close and the published hash still verifies the entire 1,000,000-slot order, including the slots nobody reached. The sealed pool, the odds and the published pool hash are unchanged by this clarification.
2026-09-10 — A phone number gates nothing. SMS verification was never switched on, so the verification the 2026-08-22 amendment relied on could not happen. A mobile number is now optional everywhere in Mint or Print: it is not needed to sign up, to rip, to claim a card, or for a referral to pay. Cards pulled before this date that were held as unclaimed have been claimed for their owners. The sealed pool, the odds and the published pool hash are unchanged by this amendment.
2026-09-10 — The vendor programme is withdrawn. No vendor code was ever issued and no Vendor Set copy was ever written, so no player or shop is affected. The Ambassador programme replaces it; §4 describes it and it is not open yet. Codes already issued keep working — there are none.
2026-08-22 — Deferred phone verification. Superseded by the 2026-09-10 amendment "A phone number gates nothing" above; it no longer applies and is kept here as a record. A mobile number is no longer required to sign up or to rip. Every eligible player gets the full 5 rips per day with an email address alone. A verified mobile number is now required only to claim a card you have hit; unclaimed cards are held indefinitely and do not expire. Referral credit now requires the referred player to have verified a mobile number as well as taken a first rip. The sealed pool, the odds and the published pool hash are unchanged by this amendment.
1. What this is
Mint or Print is a free game on Digital Towns. Players take rips from a sealed pool of 1,000,000. Most rips are Contams. 1,111 rips are hits that award a digital collectible card from Series 001.
Series 001 is free to play. There is no fee to rip in Series 001 and no way to buy rips in it.
2. Who can play
You must be 18 or older and a Digital Towns account holder. An email address is enough to sign up, to rip and to claim a card you hit. A mobile number is optional and unlocks nothing. One account per person. Void where prohibited by law.
3. Rips
- 5 rips per day for every eligible player. The day resets at midnight Arizona time.
- +1 rip per day for sharing a pull to your Instagram story through the share button. One share credit per day.
- +25 rips for every person who joins MGU through your invite link, finishes signing up (name, handle, town, mailing address, age and privacy confirmations) and takes their first rip, credited at that first rip. Referrals credited before October 9, 2026 earned 5 rips and keep them. Up to 5 referrals are credited in any 24 hours; any beyond that are credited later, never lost. A referral where the two accounts appear to belong to the same person or household (same email inbox, mailing address, device or network) is held for review and may be declined. Referral rips do not expire. Referrals made through the Digital Towns Market (§4) do not earn referral rips.
- Unused daily rips do not carry over.
4. Ambassadors
Every player is an ambassador. Your invite link is on your account page. There is no vendor programme in Mint or Print.
- Your referrer is the player whose invite link brought you when you first joined MGU. If you joined without one, your referrer is the Digital Towns Market affiliate whose link or code you first buy MGU rip packs through, if that affiliate has an MGU account under the same email. Once set, a referrer never changes.
- You cannot refer yourself or another account of yours. Referred accounts must be eligible under §2.
- Ambassador copy. When a player you referred pulls a hit in Series 001, you receive an Ambassador copy of that card: the same card and serial, written to your collection the moment the hit is pulled. It carries the same utility and rights as the ripper's copy — in-game use, one official print, and minting (§8). It looks slightly different from the ripper's copy and is labelled "Ambassador".
- Ambassador copies come from outside the pool. They do not change any card's supply or remaining count, and they never change the odds of any rip.
- Copies are written only for hits pulled on or after 2026-09-29. Later series have no Ambassador copies.
- Digital Towns staff and test accounts may refer players but never receive Ambassador copies.
5. The pool
The pool of 1,000,000 rips was shuffled once with a secret seed before the first rip and sealed. The SHA-256 hash of the sealed pool is published on the Series 001 page. Series 001 closes when the last of the 1,111 hits is pulled, whether or not every rip in the pool has been taken; at that moment the seed is published and the pool can be independently verified. The pool cannot be reshuffled, extended, or edited.
Rips are taken in order from the sealed pool. The outcome of every rip is determined the moment the pool is sealed, not the moment the rip is taken.
6. Hits
- A hit is recorded the moment it is pulled. The card face is shown, the serial is assigned, and the pull is written to the public record.
- Claiming. A card is yours the moment it is pulled. Nothing has to be verified and nothing has to be added to your account first.
- Unclaimed cards do not expire. There is no deadline and no forfeit. The serial is already spent and the supply already reduced; the card waits as long as you take.
- Minting, printing and store display are available on claimed cards only.
- Three records are written for every hit: the ripper's copy, the Artist Proof to MGU, and, when the ripper was referred (§4), the referrer's Ambassador copy.
7. The public record
Every hit is posted to the public hit log with the card, serial, tier, town, the player's first name, and the time. This record is permanent and is not removed on request, except where required by law.
Contams are not posted. The remaining-rips counter and remaining supply per card are public and live.
8. Ownership and what comes next
A card in your binder is yours. Digital Towns does not charge holders for anything they do with a Series 001 card.
Every hit carries both rights: its holder may have one official print made of it, and may mint it off platform. Neither is required, and doing one does not give up the other. Ownership continues to display in game either way. How and when minting and printing open will be announced.
Every hit lives in the holder's in-game collection, where it can be held, displayed and used in the game as it is. Holders with a Digital Towns store may display their cards there.
MGU holds the Artist Proofs and may do with them as any holder may.
9. Fair play
One account per person. Referral rips are credited only for real, verified people. Accounts found to be duplicated, automated, or shared will have rips and cards voided and may be removed. Digital Towns' decisions on fair play are final.
10. Changes and closing
What will never change for Series 001: the sealed pool, the published pool hash, the odds, the tier structure, card supply, and any right a holder already has. Digital Towns may amend these rules to add rights, add features, or clarify wording. No amendment will remove a right from a holder or alter the pool. Every amendment is dated and listed in the changelog at the top of these rules.
Separately, Digital Towns may change rules 2, 3, 4 and 9 to comply with law or prevent abuse. Any such change is dated, applies going forward only, and never removes a right a holder already has or alters the pool.
Series 001 closes when the last of the 1,111 hits is pulled, whether or not every rip in the pool has been taken — see §5. Once the last hit is gone every remaining slot is a Contam, so there is nothing left to win and no further rips are taken. At close the seed is published; the hash that was published at seal still verifies the entire 1,000,000-slot order, including the slots nobody reached. Nothing is added to Series 001 afterward.
