Palm Bay Schools Guide

Palm Bay is served by Brevard Public Schools, and the City of Palm Bay counts eleven public elementary schools, three middle schools, three high schools and three charter schools in the city.

That count comes from the city new resident page, which links families to Brevard Public Schools (City of Palm Bay New Resident Information). The district office is at 2700 Judge Fran Jamieson Way in Viera, phone 321 633-1000 ext 11500 (Brevard Public Schools School Choice). The high school guides in this section cover Bayside High and Heritage High, which have Palm Bay addresses, and Palm Bay Magnet High, which has a Melbourne mailing address; Southwest Middle, on Eldron Blvd SE, is the Palm Bay middle school with its own guide in this section.

The Palm Bay elementary schools with their own Digital Towns guides are Christa McAuliffe, Columbia, Discovery, Jupiter, Lockmar, Palm Bay Elementary, Port Malabar, Riviera, Sunrise, Turner and Westside. The public schools in Palm Bay guide reconciles the city count with the federal school directory, and the charter schools guide covers the publicly funded charters operating in Palm Bay.

In the 2025-26 Florida school grades file dated as of September 1, 2026, two Palm Bay elementary schools earned an A, Riviera and Port Malabar, while Heritage High and Bayside High earned a B and Palm Bay Magnet High a C.

The Florida Department of Education file lists each school with its percent of possible points and its grades back to 1999 (FLDOE 2025-26 School Grades). For elementary schools an A takes 62 percent of points or more and a B 54 to 61 percent; for high schools an A takes 65 percent or more and a B 60 to 64 percent. Heritage High, at 64 percent in 2026, sat one point under the A line for a Palm Bay high school.

The movement matters more than one year. Port Malabar Elementary rose from a C in 2025 to an A in 2026, Discovery and Jupiter Elementary moved from C to B, and Lockmar Elementary slipped from B to C. Each Palm Bay school guide in this section breaks down its own grade, and the high schools guide compares the three Palm Bay high schools side by side.

Yes: under Florida controlled open enrollment, a Palm Bay parent may enroll a child in any Brevard public school, including a charter school, that has not reached capacity.

For Palm Bay families, the rule that matters is section 1002.31 of the Florida Statutes, which requires each district and charter school to accept such students subject to class size limits, to update capacity by grade level every 12 weeks, and to post those capacity figures on its website; the right does not extend to a child under a current expulsion or suspension (Section 1002.31, Florida Statutes (2026)). The statute has the parent transport the child, and says a school district or charter school may provide transportation to these students, without requiring it.

Brevard Public Schools keeps its school choice information on its School Choice page, and the district office at 2700 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, Viera, FL 32940 answers at 321 633-1000 ext 11500 (Brevard Public Schools School Choice). The public schools in Palm Bay guide and the charter schools guide list the options inside the city.

The Brevard Public Schools tentative 2026-2027 traditional calendar lists Labor Day on September 7, Veterans Day on November 11, Thanksgiving on November 26 and 27, and New Year's Day on January 1 and MLK Day on January 18, 2027 as holidays.

For Palm Bay district schools, the same Brevard file adds a student and teacher holiday on March 26, 2027 (BPS tentative 2026-2027 traditional calendar). The posted file is still marked tentative, so the board adopted version on the district site governs if dates differ.
